Alternatives and Fundamentals
The purpose of the ANLEC R&D Alternatives and Fundamentals Research Program is to investigate and enable those technologies that offer large reductions in the capital and operating cost for coal-fired power stations low greenhouse gas emissions. Typical coal fired power generation technologies considered for attention include;
- oxy-fuel combustion,
- post combustion capture processes,
- integrated gasification combined cycle systems,
- carbon dioxide transport and storage,
- advanced low emission technologies for brown coal.
Research informing permitting and portfolio assessment is also included.
The A&F Program aims to:
- Generate and test new ideas for significant cost reductions in the next generation of Low Emission Coal Technologies (LECT)
- Enable and accelerate LECT deployment in Australia by reducing demonstration project risk
- Support focused, collaborative R&D on enabling LECT technologies
